What to bring on the day of the exam:
- Registration form / appointment confirmation from the hospital or the referral form from the treating physician
- Results of previous exams and the “health record” / “Carnet de santé” / “libretto della salute.”
- Information about medications or other relevant circumstances
- A form of identification and your health insurance card or a copy of your policy
- Your AHV number
- Favorite toy, stuffed animal, book to read or have read aloud, pacifier, your own bottle, and a change of dry clothes
Children’s bodies function differently from those of adults. Pediatric imaging (pediatric radiology) involves producing medical images of children and adolescents that, when combined with other test results, can be used to plan further treatment or follow-up care.

Welcome, Antonio Escalda Ribeiro
Antonio Escalda Ribeiro is joining the Echo sympa team as a medical radiology technician specializing in ultrasound.
He has extensive experience in radiological and ultrasound-guided examinations, which he acquired and further developed primarily at the CHUV. He brings to our practice a high level of technical precision, extensive experience in hospital settings, and a special knack for working with children and their parents.
At Echo sympa, Antonio performs examinations following a clearly structured technical protocol and documents the images in accordance with our internal standards. The medical evaluation, the release of findings, and diagnostic responsibility remain with Dr. Rainer Wolf.
On Wednesdays, Antonio works alongside Dr. Wolf in Fribourg to deepen his expertise in pediatric ultrasound, coordinate protocols, and ensure consistent quality. In Bulle, a teleconferencing system enables direct communication between Dr. Wolf, Antonio, and the parents during the examination, if needed.
Antonio communicates with families in French. Since his native language is Portuguese, he can also care for Portuguese-speaking families in their own language—a small but very nice “Echo Plus” for some children and parents.
